The Botwell Green Sport and Leisure Centre and Library has been officially opened.
The centre is a first for Hillingdon, incorporating a purpose built, “state-of-the-art” library and adult education class rooms within a sports and leisure centre.
Sports facilities include a gym, a 25m indoor swimming pool, and a multi use sports hall. The library replaces the former Golden Crescent facility and is a “modern learning and knowledge centre” with computers, free WiFi internet access, a meeting area and a Starbucks coffee shop.
The council’s own investment of £20.2m to build the complex was enhanced by funding of £300k from the Football Foundation and social enterprise leisure operator GLL towards the cost of the all weather outdoor football pitches.
Cllr Ray Puddifoot, Leader of Hillingdon Council said: “This brand new facility is truly a community hub benefiting residents in Hillingdon as well as encouraging visitors from other boroughs.”
