Boris seeks MP to fight R3

It is reported that, following the appointment of Daniel Moylan to focus on aviation policy, Mayor of London Boris Johnson is looking for an MP to champion an estuary airport over Heathrow.

The Spectator reports speculation that the Mayor is sounding out MPs to find a back-bencher to head a commons campaign against Heathrow expansion with Zac Goldsmith, Bob Neil, and even Labour MP John McDonnell mentioned as possibilities.

Whatever the level of truth in the story – The Spectator is usually well-informed on such matters – battle lines are being drawn around Heathrow.
