Boris Johnson told a crowd in Eastcote that he was open to backing route changes for HS2.
The Mayor of London was speaking at an event to announce cycling funding for outer London boroughs, including Hillingdon, and a Hillingdon “Sky ride” – a large cycling event, He told the Uxbridge Gazette: “Whatever happens we can’t have it destroying beautiful parts of the city. We need to try and block it, we need to change the route.”
The Mayor’s office has previously been strongly supportive of HS2, and in particular of a Crossrail/HS2 interchange at Old Oak.
