Boris may oppose Ealing’s ‘Penny Whistle’

Leaf The Evening Standard says new Mayor Boris Johnson may oppose eleven out of twenty one proposed tall buildings in London, including Glenkerrin’s ‘Leaf’ development – also known as the ‘Pennt Whistle’.

The ‘Tesco Tower’ in nearby Kensington and Chelsea is also under threat, as Mr Johnson has warned he will not approve skyscrapers if residents are opposed to them and today confirmed he will redraw the planned skyline as a matter of priority.

Ken Livingstone was believed to favour approving the Ealing development, under new powers granted only weeks before he lost the election, allowing the Mayor to overrule local councils that have refused developments. Ironically these powers may now be used to stop developments.
