Barnet Council has approved plans from Berkeley’s St George and Sainsbury’s to build 1,309 flats on the site of the retailer’s supermarket at The Hyde in Hendon.
The Silk Park scheme, designed by Hutchinson & Partners, will produce buildings of up to 28 storeys, and a significant amount of new public space. It will contain 35% affordable homes, and deliver a larger replacement supermarket for Sainsbury’s.
Phase one will include the 96,800 sq ft supermarket and 770 homes.
