Barratt reveal Welsh Harp plans

Barratt Homes have proposed around 2,000 new homes on land near the Welsh Harp reservoir.

The plans are part of the West Hendon Development. Welsh Harp is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).

The hybrid planning application involves the demolition of existing buildings and construction of up to 2000 residential units, as well as a two form entry primary school, a community building, as well as commercial space.

It comprises an outline submission for up to 1642 residential units, the nursery and primary school, and the community centre, with around 1,700sqm of commercial floorspace in buildings ranging from two to 29 stories. Two new pedestrian bridges would be provided across the Welsh Harp.

It also includes a full planning submission for the construction of 358 new homes.
