Barnet look to cut planning drag

LB Barnet are looking to speed up decisions and save money by increasing the number of objections required for a planning application to be decided in committee.

At present three objections are needed to ensure an application will be decided by members rather than officers. Barnet Council are proposing this is increased to five, which, they say, will save the council £40,000 a year and reduce the number of applications heard in committee by about a third.
