Barnet Council has welcomed the start of the Public Inquiry into the Compulsory Purchase Order on the West Hendon Estate.
The CPO is needed as part of the overall redevelopment of the estate.
Richard Cornelius, Leader of the Council, said “The regeneration project will transform the estate and will provide high quality and attractive new homes at a time when public finances are incredibly tight. We are particularly looking forward to explaining, through our evidence to the Inquiry, how important it is that the regeneration of the estate continues through to completion. We believe that this is very much in the public interest.
“This regeneration project represents part of a commitment to transform several run down estates in the borough and provide Barnet residents with the high quality of home they deserve.“
