Balfour Beatty has won the £460m contract to build phase 2 of the terminal 2 satellite building – T2B.
Balfour Beatty will work with its in-house design team at Parsons Brinckerhoff to deliver the project when construction work starts in October. They also built the phase 1 of T2B in November 2009. Phase 2 adds ten new aircraft gates, an underground link from the satellite to the main building of the new Terminal 2 development and a large baggage handling facility.
Balfour Beatty Chief Executive, Ian Tyler, told Construction Enquirer: We have a strong track record in delivering complex projects for BAA at Heathrow, including the rail systems elements of Terminal 5 and Terminal 2B Phase 1.
BAA Capital Director, Steven Morgan, said: This contract represents another milestone in the modernisation of Heathrow Airport.”
