British Airways has delayed moving most of its long-haul flights to Heathrow’s new Terminal 5 until June. Almost all of BA’s long-haul flights were supposed to switch from Terminal 4 to Terminal 5 on 30 April. Sixty arrivals and 60 departures per day were due to be moved.
Speaking to the BBC, BA’s WIllie Walsh said: "It is only sensible to ensure that Terminal 5 is operating consistently at a high standard before the move begins." Meanwhile BAA said that a normal flight schedule had been operating at Terminal 5 since Tuesday.
It is now possible that the redevelopments at Terminals 1, 2 and 3 will be delayed, as they require the BA flights to move from Terminal 4, so flights from other operators can be moved in, emptying the areas planned for redevelopment.
