Asda to appeal in Hayes

Asda is to appeal the refusal of their application to build a new store on the former Westland site in Hayes.

Plans to build a store and two other commercial units were refused on grounds that the land is allocated for manufacturing under thelocal area plan.

Asda are working with the British Steel Pension Fund on the application, which they say will generate more jobs than an alternatve industrial use. They say that the land allocation is out of date and based on data that is no longer valid.
