Wandsworth Council has published two Article 4 directions which aim to protect a pub on Upper Tooting Road.
The council is consulting on the two directions, one of which prevents demolition and the other change of use without prior planning consent. They obstruct what would be permitted development rights. The pub was designated an Asset of Community Value last year.
Wandsworth’s strategic planning spokesman, Councillor Russell King, said: “Last year the council officially recognised this pub as an ‘Asset of Community Value’ amid fears it was about to be sold and converted into a shop.
“Now we are consulting on two Article 4 Directions which could prevent the owner from changing its use and/or demolishing the building without first applying for planning permission.”
