The Airport Property Partnership have leased 81,000 sq ft to DHL Aviation at the Heathrow Cargo Centre.
This sees DHL Aviation almost double the space it occupies at the Heathrow Cargo Centre. They already occupy 100,250 sq ft, including airside yard area, and now it has taken the building next door, including further airside yard area, to cope with increasing demand.
DHL Aviation specialises in the provision of international air transport logistics services. The company’s primary function is to provide international transport services for the DHL group.
APP – a joint venture between SEGRO and Aviva Investors – owns the Heathrow Cargo Centre, also known as “The Horseshoe”, which provides cargo transit units with direct airside access to the busiest international airport in the world.
Alan Holland, Director of APP and SEGRO’s Business Unit Director for Greater London, said, “This is a significant airside deal for APP, and we are very pleased to have been able to work closely with our existing and important customer DHL on meeting their new requirement. This agreement is an important investment in our airside space, and illustrates the continued market demand for APP’s strategically well located industrial assets.”
Danny Pedri, Managing Director, Hubs & Gateways UK and Ireland, DHL Aviation, said, “The Horseshoe at Heathrow provides us with an ideally located cargo transit unit and direct airside access, which is essential for our aviation business. In order to accommodate our growing market share, we’ve been pleased to work closely with the APP team to meet our requirement for expansion at Heathrow.”
The latest lease agreement follows on from APP’s successful letting to Wincanton in October, where the third party logistics provider has leased the 86,592 sq ft Centra building on the North Feltham Trading Estate to service a contract for supermarket chain, Morrisons.
