Airworld Services is to expand its operations at London Heathrow, taking a larger chunk of the two-storey shed – X2 – from SEGRO.
The airside logistics and storage company has agreed a new 10 year lease on units 1 to 4 at X2, a two storey warehouse facility configured to provide full lorry access and loading on both levels. An existing occupier at X2, Airworld will increase its space within the development by around 25 per cent as a result of the deal.
Gwyn Powell, Chairman of Airworld, commented: “Airworld is delighted with the success that has come with the transfer to X2 in 2009. The new lease incorporating all 4 ground units at the ‘on airport’ high tech facility enables Airworld to offer world class services from the prominent location.”
Simon Lanyon, senior leasing surveyor at SEGRO, added: “Having worked with Airworld Services for a number of years, we are pleased to have been able to support the expansion of their business by accommodating their requirement for additional business space at Heathrow.
“The volume of cargo handled by the airport is currently as high as it has ever been, and we anticipate that this will translate into good demand at Heathrow as cargo users seek additional space. At X2, we are already witnessing increased enquiries related to the second level of the development, which comprises four units ranging in size from 27,000 to 125,000 sq ft.”
Airworld was represented by Aspect Property Consultants.
