Construction work has started on a £42 million scheme to create more than 200 new homes on the Lascar Works site.
A2Dominion want to transform the a former factory site, in Staines Road, Hounslow, into a mix of homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale. Commercial premises will also form part of the scheme and are being developed by Howard-Ventures, part of the Howard Group.
The 6.5 acre plot of land was previously home to the firm Beldam Lascar Seals Ltd. A2Dominion bought it in April this year wit the aid of a £17.85m grant from the HCA, and is now working in partnership with the London Borough of Hounslow on the development, which will get 20 per cent of its energy from renewable sources.
Danny Lynch, A2Dominions Regional Development Director (London), said: This Lascar Works scheme will provide a full mix of different types of homes to meet the housing needs of the local community. Work has now started on site, and we anticipate that phased completions of the new homes will take place between autumn 2011 and spring 2012.
Contractor Hill Partnerships has been appointed for the construction of the homes. Architects Hamiltons and CHBC Architects are also involved on the planning and construction phases respectively.
There will be 92 homes for affordable rent on the site, ranging from one-bed apartments to four-bed houses. The shared ownership aspect of the scheme is 11 one-bed and 22 two-bed apartments, along with two three-bed houses. There will be 15 houses and 48 apartments for outright sale, and 17 one-bed and 18 two-bed apartments for intermediate rent.
