Harrow to merge directorates

LB Harrow has announced plans to merge the place shaping and community & environment directorates in a cost-cutting round.

The proposals are part of a plan to reduce the number of senior managers at Harrow Council from 30 to 20 and reduce the wage bill by over £1m a year.

Harrow’s chief executive Michael Lockwood has launched a four week consultation on a proposed restructure of the Council’s most senior staff. It forms part of the Council’s “transformation programme” that aims to save £60m over four years.

Under the proposals, the senior management team will reduce from eight to five, with the merger of a number of departments, with the place shaping and community & environment directorates merged into a new environment and enterprise directorate.
